This valley tour is something for a whole day! 18 kilometres through the Moselle landscape. Starting point of the hike is the village of Burgen - with its 20 bridges and footbridges often called the "Venice of the Moselle".Insights into the hiking tour:From Burgen the hike starts through a total of 5 valleys - the Fronbach Valley, the Kieselborn Brook Valley, the Brelitz Brook Valley, the Rondel Brook Valley and the Moselle Valley. Along the way, at the landmark of Wintrich - at the "Großer Herrgott" - a fantastic view of the Moselle valley awaits you.  There are more beautiful distant views on the "Burgener Flur". From here you can enjoy not only the view of the Moselle valley but also magnificent views of the Hunsrück heights. You can stop for refreshments directly along the way in inns and wineries (Straußwirtschaften). Backpack catering is available in shops in Wintrich or castles. Please note that the hiking trail is currently impaired by the installation of wind turbines.

Directions

Start, for example, in Burgen, the place of many bridges and walk along the Frohnbach through a beautiful meadow valley to the small village Hirzlei. Passing the small village chapel, you walk uphill along the Kieselbornerbach. Halfway up, the hiking tour then leads you along forest paths up to the top of the hill to the "Kasholz" housing estate. Along the Rondellbach the path leads down into the Moselle valley to Wintrich. Make a stop at the "Wintricher Großer Herrgott" and enjoy the panoramic view. The trail continues through the vineyards down to the village of Wintrich. At the town hall of the municipality the hiking trail then leads uphill to the Wintricher Höhe and you continue down into the Brelitz stream valley. A forest path leads you to the "Burgener Flur" with beautiful views of the Moselle valley and the Hunsrück heights. A field path leads you back to Burgen.
