An open landscape of fields, meadows, and pastures, interrupted by small forest passages: the circular hike through the Hunsrück mostly follows forest and farm roads.

The starting point of the hike is in Longkamp. The village lies on the edge of the Hunsrück and is therefore often referred to as the "Gateway to the Mosel." In addition to beautiful scenery, the village offers peace and relaxation.

Insights into the hike:

The hike involves only very gentle inclines. Thus, you can leisurely explore a small part of the Mosel-Hunsrück.

Initially, it goes over field paths up to the new long-distance road connection between the Hunsrück and Eifel, the new B50. After crossing the federal highway, the path leads along fields and orchard avenues to Monzelfeld. Over forest and meadow paths with beautiful views and resting places, it then heads back towards Longkamp.

Refreshment options are available at the inn "Zur Altheck" (observe opening times) in Longkamp.

General information

Directions

Starting from the village center in Longkamp, the Hubertusweg begins through the "Schulstraße" to the Bürgerpark. After crossing the Bürgerpark, turn left onto Bernkasteler Straße and then right into the street "Am Hambuch." On the left side of the street, the Hubertusweg turns onto a field path. For about 1.5 km, follow the field path straight ahead before it transitions into a meadow path. With the new B50 in sight, orient yourself to the left and reach a paved farm road. Here, turn right and cross the bridge that goes over the federal road. Along groves and fields as well as an orchard alley, walk about 3 kilometers towards Monzelfeld. Along the way, you will have views of the villages of Longkamp and Kommen, the distant Mosel valley, and finally the village of Monzelfeld. The signage guides you to the L 158 at the height of the "Schellhof." Cross the L 158, turn left, and continue parallel to the classified road on a farm road. Then the path branches off to the "Birkenhof." Passing the farm, continue on and soon enter a forested area. Across a meadow area, you reach the B 269. On the opposite side of the road, a path leads you into the forest. Then, at the forest edge, a resting area invites you to pause. Continue through the forest, and after several turns, you cross the B 269, the L 158, and the new B50 again. A resting area under birch trees invites you for another break. At the entrance to Longkamp, you encounter a small chapel, where you cross the street. Past the town hall of the community, you arrive at the church dedicated to Saint Andreas. After about 200 m, you reach the starting point at the village fountain.
