A beautiful and new circular hiking route near the Mosel town of Wintrich. The highlight is the view from the "Kanzel" into the Frohnbachtal.

A circular hiking trail through the quiet forests of the Mosel Hunsrück.

Insight into the hiking route:

From the hiking car park on the district road K 85, the path mainly leads through chestnut and beech forests. Along the way, there is a wonderful view from the "Kanzel" (signposted as a detour of approx. 150 meters) into the Frohnbachtal near Burgen and Hirzlei. Another worthwhile detour lies in the Wintrich district Kasholz - the Hofgut Kasholz. Everything here revolves around elderberry. Elderberry juice, nectar, elderberry-apple juice, and syrup specialties, liqueurs and spirits, as well as various jams and jellies, all from their own cultivation, are available for purchase in the farm shop. All juices are naturally cloudy and manufactured and bottled using traditional and vitamin-preserving methods (see author tip).

The hiking trail is signposted in both directions. It is recommended to hike it counterclockwise.

There are no places to eat along the route, so it is advisable to bring packed food.

General information

Directions

The route starts at the hiking car park on district road K 85. First, you walk along a path beside the district road, then continue walking on forest paths. It goes downhill towards the Frohnbachtal. However, you do not descend completely but enjoy the view from the "Kanzel" into the valley (signposted as a detour of approx. 150 meters). At first, you continue going further down, then uphill again along vineyards. Across open terrain with meadows and fields, the path leads you back into the forest and to the starting point. The path is signposted in both directions. It is recommended to hike counterclockwise.
