The cultural trail “Mesenicher Steinreichskäpp” is an interactive offer in the WeinKulturLand Mosel. As part of the Mosel Experience Route, the long-distance path between Trier and Koblenz, it enriches the many thematic paths in an artistic and humorous way. At the heart of the cultural trail is the human who has shaped the Mosel culture in the tension between nature and landscape.
Here in Mesenich, the central themes revolve around geology: water, stone, and wine—this shorthand formula determines the content and design of our cultural project. In particular, the stone-carved heads of Mesenich personalities and the playful interaction with stones characterize the special nature of the “Steinreichskäpp.”
Hikers are also given the opportunity to engage creatively and sportively with stones. Our cultural trail leads along well-developed paths from the “Briederner Schweiz” to the “Senheim Sculpture Park” through three different experience and

General information
Safety Guidelines
After and during rain or snowfall and in icy conditions, special caution is required. Walk carefully, wear good footwear, and avoid overestimating your abilities and risky excursions.
Be sure to bring enough provisions (especially mineral water). However, watch the weight of your backpack. Take breaks, carry a mobile phone (for emergencies), and avoid hiking in thunderstorm risk areas.
Equipment
For the hike, sturdy footwear and weatherproof clothing are required.
Tip
After a hike, a delicious Mosel wine is recommended in the wine village of Mesenich.
Getting there
From the direction of Koblenz / Cologne:
A 48 to Kaisersesch, L 98 towards Cochem. There, cross the bridge and follow L 98 along the Mosel upstream via Beilstein.
From the direction of Mainz:
A 61 to Rheinböllen, B 50 towards Trier. At Kirchberg, take B 421 towards Zell / Mosel. At Tellig, take L 98 via Grenderich to Senheim. Here turn right / downstream on the Mosel via L 98 to Mesenich.
From the direction of Trier:
A 1 / A 48 to Wittlich, B 49 towards Zell / Mosel. Follow B 49 until you reach Nehren via Alf. Then take L 98 and cross the bridge towards Senheim and continue along the right bank of the Mosel.
