The Lieserpfad runs for a distance of 74 kilometers through a varied landscape. The last section of the 4th stage leads down from the Eifel into the Mosel Valley.

The last section of stage 4 of the Lieserpfad "Wittlich-Lieser" opens up the lower Lieser valley, where vineyards appear again and announce the proximity of the Mosel valley. From Platten, the hiker uses the "Maare-Mosel-Radweg" for about 1.7 km, shortly before the cycle path bridge over the Lieserbach a small path leads uphill to a forest trail that is followed to Noviand. Through the district of Noviand (the double municipality of Maring-Noviand), the path continues to the "Maringer Schweiz," which refers to a hillside forest on the lower Lieserbach. The Lieserpfad winds through this hillside forest to the mouth of the stream into the Mosel.

General information

Directions

The "Maare-Mosel-Radweg" crosses the "Trierer Straße" in the local community of Platten. You follow the cycle route towards Bernkastel-Kues for about 1.7 kilometers. Shortly before the cycle route passes the bridge over the Lieserbach, a small path branches off on the right side leading uphill to a forest trail. You follow this forest trail to the village of Noviand. The path goes "zigzag" through the village, then continues past a farm. You reach the "Maringer Schweiz," the wooded steep slope along the lower Lieserbach. First, you enjoy a beautiful valley view of Maring (Maring-Noviand is a double municipality) with the church and the vineyard "Honigberg" in the background. Then you take the "Lieserpfad" literally - the name says it all. On narrow paths, elevated above the stream valley, you continue hiking to the mouth of the Lieser into the Mosel. It is now not far to the Mosel community of the same name.
