Between two of the most famous cities on the Moselle, the route leads you through lots of small, typical Moselle villages.

Leaving the medieval town of Bernkastel-Kues with its romantic lanes and impressive half-timbered houses behind, the Moselle Cycle Route runs along the right river bank with the first stop being Zeltingen-Rachtig. Amidst the vineyards, before entering the village, is the sundial from 1620 that lends its name to the vineyard "Zeltinger Sonnenuhr”. A detour through the centre of the village with its old estates and half-timbered houses is worthwhile. Opposite Rachtig lies the former Cistercian monastery of Machern, the grounds of which now include a museum, a wine store and a brewery. The cycle route continues right of the Moselle through the wine- producing villages of Erden, Lösnich, Kindel and Wolf before reaching today’s end destination. Traben-Trarbach, the famous Art Nouveau town, which was the second largest wine trading centre in Europe after Bordeaux around 1900, has a lot to offer. High above the town is the castle ruin of Grevenburg, which offers a number of architectural Art Nouveau and Belle Epoque masterpieces to be amazed by. The Museums-Zeile, a row of museums, offers cultural and historical insights (including the Mittelmosel Museum and the Buddha Museum). A guided tour through the mystical semi-darkness of the Traben-Trarbach underground vaults promises an exciting journey of discovery.
