Mosel Cycle Path Zell (Mosel) - Cochem

The stage starts at the "Zeller Schwarze Katz" fountain in Zell (Mosel). Along the historic railway bridge in Bullay, continue straight on the left side of the Mosel towards Cochem. Nestled between forest and vineyards lies Alf. Past the Alfer Baachspauter it goes on to St. Aldegund - with its lovingly restored half-timbered houses, the route continues to Bremm. The wine village, with its narrow, winding alleys, lies at the foot of the steepest vineyard in Europe - the Calmont. Those who accept the challenge of climbing the steepest vineyard in Europe on the "Calmont Klettersteig" are rewarded at the summit cross with one of the most beautiful views over the Mosel valley. The bike route continues along the idyllic wine villages Ediger-Eller, Nehren and Senhals to Ellenz-Poltersdorf. Here there is the possibility to cross to the other side of the Mosel by ferry to visit Beilstein, the "Sleeping Beauty of the Mosel" with its small alleys, the famous half-timbered backdrop, and the Burg Metternich looming above the town. Back on the left Mosel bank, the stage destination Cochem is finally reached via Ernst. The picturesque town offers the best conditions for ending the day: winding alleys lead to the market square with its old gabled houses, the baroque town hall and the Martinsbrunnen fountain. Along the lively Mosel promenade, you can stroll between wine taverns and cafés. The imposing Reichsburg from the 11th century dominates the townscape from almost every perspective and is definitely worth a visit.
