E-bike tour, almost 20 km, along the Moselle: Kues - Wehlen - Kueser Plateau - Maring - Lieser
E-bike round tour, almost 20 km, along the Moselle: Kues - Wehlen - Kueser Plateau - Maring - Lieser. Views and varied tour along the Moselle at Bernkastel-Kues with a steep gradient over the Wehlener Plateau. This plateau lies above the wine village of Wehlen. Cyclists enjoy, among other things, a great view of the "Wehlender Sonnenuhr" - which is also the name of one of the most famous vineyards in the Moselle region. The tour can be started from Kues, Wehlen, Siebenborn Monastery in Maring and Lieser.
Insights into the bike tour:
If you start in Kues, the tour first leads to Wehlen - here you can admire the only suspension bridge on the entire Moselle. The next stage destination is the Trinity at the top of the Wehlener Plateau. It is an old landmark that was already used by the Celts. Through the vineyards we then descend to the Liesertal and the Siebenborn monastery. The Maare-Moselle cycle path continues to the wine village of Lieser and from there along the Moselle back to Kues.
General information
Directions
As a starting point of the tour there are several places to consider, such as Kues, Wehlen, Siebenborn Monastery in Maring and Lieser. In Kues you can park your car on the banks of the Mosel or in the multi-storey car park. The tour takes you from Kues on the Moselle cycle path down the Moselle to Wehlen. Immediately after the Wehlen bridge, turn left and enter the town. At the bridge there is already the first possibility to stop for a break. You cross Wehlen a bit on the main road and turn left into the street "Am Krausbach" in the direction of "Dreifaltigkeit". From now on, the road climbs continuously up to the Wehlen plateau. Shortly after a small animal paddock, turn left from the actual route to the "Dreifaltigkeit" and continue on to the plateau. Once you reach the top, cross the plateau (approx. 200m) and continue along the edge of the slope to the Trinity. The Trinity is an old landmark that was already used by the Celts. Today there is a large sacrificial offering and a barbecue hut at this prominent point. Here you have already reached the highest point of the tour. From the Trinity, you drive steadily downhill through vineyards to the Liesertal. At the bottom you have reached the Siebenborn monastery and the Maare-Moselle cycle path. Now you follow the Maare-Moselle cycle path to the mouth of the Lieser into the Moselle, where you meet the Moselle cycle path again. On this cycle path you will pass the wine village of Lieser (with numerous refreshment stops) and return to Kues.
