This winter hike on the Lower Moselle is perfect for a frosty cold day with blue skies and bright sunshine. The tour combines historic buildings, wine-growing tradition, and views of the Moselle cultural landscape. At the end of the hike, you can stroll through the alleys of Alken and conclude the hike with a cozy stop. The route initially follows the Moselsteig through the village. Passing the Michaelskirche (one of the oldest churches on the Moselle), it goes along a rocky and steep path with some viewpoints to Thurant Castle. Unfortunately, the castle cannot be visited in winter, but with its two distinctive towers, it is also an impressive sight from the outside and a great photo opportunity. The return path and descent then lead gently downhill through the vineyards. Through the streets of Alken, you reach back to the starting point on the Moselle.
