On a challenging route, this tour leads from Kinheim via the Alftalhöhenweg to Prinzenkopf and Mont-Royal through vineyards, forests and along ruins.
For those who like to climb metres in altitude, this is exactly the right place. On a demanding 42 km, you will have to conquer a series of uphill stretches. The reward is the best views of the Moselle valley.
General information
Directions
From the starting point, we continue uphill on the Wingertsweg to the Mötschenkopf. We stay on a farm track parallel to the L58. At the L58/K62 junction, follow the L58 towards Kinderbeuren and turn right at the next opportunity into a forest path. Follow this path until you reach a country road. The trail leads along further farm and forest tracks to the Reil heights - the Reiler Hals. Cross the L105 and turn into the next farm track. Continue along this path past the Driesch Hut to the Prinzenkopf Tower. After a rest, follow the path back a little. Approx. 500m after the Driesch hut, the path divides - we follow the upper path. After 1.5km you reach the L105 again and follow the road to a serpentine bend. From there, follow a dirt road until you reach the Mont Royal holiday park. Follow the road to the airfield and turn left into the forest. Take a circular route around the former Mont Royal fortress and then return along the country road. After the holiday park, the road climbs very steeply for a short distance and then you turn left off the K62 and follow the road along farm tracks and vineyards. From kilometre 40, the descent to the starting point begins.
