Family-friendly walking and hiking route on paved paths. Views & panoramas in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park and the Mosel valley accompany you along the way.

On the Osburger Panoramaweg, you walk on paved paths with slight inclines around the local community. The family-friendly path mostly crosses open fields, offering ever new views and distant panoramas of the nearby and further surroundings.

Over 7.6 km, the path passes the Osburg chapel and the lake view. Along the way, you receive information at various distinctive points about the landscape and its use. Panorama boards explain the views into the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park and the Mosel valley.

A signposted shortcut at the junction by the chapel toward the lake view (at km 1.5) is the barrier-free variant of the path and is suitable for families with strollers or wheelchair users.

The path's realization was supported by the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park with funds from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

General information

Directions

From the sports field, the route follows the Thielenbach valley along the ridge to the rest area with a panorama board. On this board, realized as part of the Panoramic Views project in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, you learn interesting facts about the nearby Riveris reservoir.

Continue along the information board with explanations about the use of the Thielenbach valley to the Osburg chapel. Here you also find interesting information about the chapel's history.

At the following junction, you can take the full path toward the lake view or choose the shortcut, which continues on an asphalted path toward the chimney forest.

The path toward the lake view leads you along meadows and fields to the woodland, where you can catch a small view into the valley of the drinking water reservoir of the city of Trier and the Ruwer collective municipality.

Returning toward Osburg, you pass the chimney forest by another panorama board explaining the view into the valley of the Ruwer & the Mosel.

The path leads through the town along the multi-purpose hall back toward the Hunsrück, providing distant views of the Osburg high forest.
