This varied circular hike leads past historical and scenic points around the Pellingen high plateau.
The circular tour starts and ends at the Schanzenhütte and leads through forests and past historical landmarks and great views over gentle hills. Highlights include the reconstruction of a Roman military road, the war memorial at Höthkopf with its broad view, and the source of the Kandelbach, near a Roman spring enclosure. At Karlskopf, a picturesque panorama opens with a view framed over the Konzer valley. Finally, the old “Hunting Hut,” a former railway wagon that was used as living accommodation after World War II, invites you to rest with seating and a view of Schodener Kopf.

Directions
The circular hike starts and ends at the sports field and leads through varied forests, past cultural-historical landmarks and magnificent viewpoints.
Right at the beginning, the reconstruction of a Roman military road invites you on a little time travel. The route continues to the memorial at Höthkopf, which is not only an important place of remembrance but also offers an impressive view.
Another highlight is the source of the Kandelbach, near which there was a Roman spring enclosure. At Karlskopf, a picturesque panorama opens up, with a view framed over the Konzer valley. To conclude, the path leads to the old “Hunting Hut,” a former railway carriage that served as living space after the Second World War. Today, there is a cozy seating area here with a view of Schodener Kopf.

Getting there
B 268 between Trier and Zerf. The parking lot at the sports field (signposted) can then be reached via Waldstraße.

Free parking directly at the starting point at the sports field.
Public transit
Bus line 293 from Konz to Pellingen or bus line 207 from Trier to Pellingen.
