Where steam locomotives used to puff, you now cycle through the unique volcanic landscape of the Eifel to the Moselle Valley.
The 58-kilometer long cycle path on an old railway track connects the volcanic nature of the Eifel with the Mediterranean flair of the Moselle region. Effortlessly, you can glide down and be distracted by numerous cycling experience loops to the maars, to a lava bomb, to a bell foundry, to monasteries, tobacco farmers, or into the charming old town of Wittlich. The little river Lieser crosses your path again and again, going over viaducts and through tunnels.
Numerous rest areas offer you opportunities to catch your breath and pause. Along the Maare-Mosel cycle path, there are many wonderful hosts who, far from any car noise, are real refuges for peace seekers and connoisseurs of regional specialties... one reason why this premium route has become one of the most popular cycle paths in the region.

Directions
Flat, continuously asphalted route on a former railway track. The routing is almost entirely on forest and agricultural roads and only rarely on roads with little traffic, which also makes it very suitable for families with children and inline skaters.

Getting there
In the morning, you take the RegioRadler MaareMosel (line 300) from Bernkastel-Kues (Forum) to Daun.
Parking
In Bernkastel-Kues, you can park directly on the Moselle shore on both the Bernkastel and Kues sides for a fee.
Public transit
