A challenging but rewarding hiking route between Enkirch and Traben-Trarbach through steep slate mountains on old vineyard paths with breathtaking views over the Moselle valley.
Where some of the best Riesling wines of the Middle Moselle grow in the steep slate mountains along the Moselle front between Enkirch and Traben-Trarbach, the wine-growing community of Enkirch has established a well-signposted hiking trail.
For the hiker, it is a profound experience to get to know the difficult working conditions in our classic steep slopes, where vineyards have an incline of about 70%, the midday sun shines almost vertically, and the Riesling vines stand lush green even in summer thanks to their roots up to 8 meters deep.
The views from numerous resting benches into the Moselle valley landscape are overwhelming.

Directions
It leads using ancient vineyard paths from the street "Zum Zeppwingert" through the vineyard areas "Enkircher Zeppwingert" and "Enkircher Ellergrub" to the Kirster Grat, from which you can hike back to Enkirch or on to Starkenburg via the Moselhöhenweg (M). Further information is available in a display case along the way.

By car via federal roads B53, L192 or L193 to Enkirch on the Moselle

Parking at Mosel parking lot Enkirch - free of charge. About 150m to the starting point
Public transit
By train (Easter to October): take the Mosel-Wein-Bahn to the Kövenig stop, then the ferry to Enkirch. About 150m from the ferry to the starting point.
