Panoramic views in the Osburg High Forest, combined with vistas of the Moselle and Ruwer valleys. This suggested route is suitable for e-bikes and mountain bikes.
From the Osburg Hochwald, the route descends into the Moselle Valley near Longuich. Passing the Roman Villa Urbana, it then climbs again into the Longuich Forest and descends into the Ruwer Valley near Mertesdorf. Via Eitelsbach and Mertesdorf, you’ll reach the Ruwer-Hochwald Bike Trail and ride upstream along the Ruwer to Waldrach. From here, the route leads uphill along the Bausbach back to Osburg.
General information
Directions
Starting at the parking lot of the Hochwaldhalle in Osburg, the trail leads toward Thomm and continues along the ridge between the Ruwer and Moselle valleys. After 5.4 km, the trail descends toward Fell. Passing through Fell and Fastrau, the route continues to the Moselle River in Longuich. In Longuich, we take a break at the Roman Villa Urbana. From here, the route continues uphill through the Longuich Forest to “Kenner Sang.” From there, the trail leads downhill toward the Lower Ruwer Valley. After just under 22 km, we reach the wine-growing village of Trier-Eitelsbach. From there, we pass through Mertesdorf and join the Ruwer-Hochwald Bike Trail, which we follow upstream along the Ruwer River to Waldrach. In Waldrach, at kilometer 26.5, we turn left onto Hermeskeiler Straße and ride to the roundabout. We take the third exit at the roundabout toward Riveris / Thomm. Shortly after leaving Waldrach, we turn right toward Riveris. After 28.3 km, we turn left and follow the Bausbach. After 900 m, we turn right and wind our way uphill toward Osburg,

Tip
Visit the sites along the "Roads of the Romans" route: the Roman Villa Urbana in Longuch and the Roman aqueduct in Waldrach.
Getting there
Directions from Koblenz: Take the A1, exit at Trier-Ruwer, and head toward Hermeskeil on the B52/L151. Take the Osburg exit. At the roundabout, take the first exit toward Hochwaldhalle.
