General information

Directions

From the bus stop "Unter den Linden" in the center of Niederfell, a 750 m long access path to the starting point Linkemühle is marked. At Linkemühle begins the Traumpfädchen Niederfeller Schweiz, which is best explored clockwise. So you first follow the signpost towards the barbecue hut. The forest floor springs wonderfully underfoot as the narrow forest path winds deeper into the idyllic Aspeler Bachtal. Species-rich mixed forest and small rock cliffs create a relaxed and calm atmosphere. Step by step, you almost imperceptibly gain height until, after 0.7 km, the previously accompanying Traumpfad says goodbye. The Traumpfädchen continues halfway up the slope following the Aspeler Bachtal. With lively ups and downs, the path finally leads to the barbecue hut, inviting you to take a break in the middle of the greenery.

Refreshed, shortly afterwards a short but noticeable ascent, called the old Niederfeller cattle drift, is easily mastered up to the Mosel plateau. Once at the top, the forest recedes and lush meadows allow an unobstructed view of the surroundings. Just a little detour later, you reach the Maifeldblick at a junction. From the provided bench, the magnificent view of the Mosel valley and far into the Maifeld can be particularly well enjoyed.

From the Maifeldblick, it is only a few meters uphill, then the route descends into the valley. Together with the Traumpfad and the Moselsteig, you now walk through a varied nature dominated by orchard meadows and hedges.

After crossing an access road, the fire rose path awaits. Lush hedge roses flank especially the first passage of this very idyllic path, which soon reaches the view of the Schloss von der Leyen with the Johanniskirche.

Gently ascending, the Traumpfädchen passes rock cliffs to the last highlight of the day: the Mönch-Felix-Hütte, which is an airy observation tower. The Mosel, Niederfell, and Kobern-Gondorf with its castles shape the magnificent panoramic view. Cheerfully, you manage the final descent into the valley. From the portal at Linkemühle, the already known access path (750 m) brings the hikers back to Niederfell, where gastronomy invites you to stop for a meal.

Safety Guidelines

General safety instructions:

Safety instructions - safe hiking on the Traumpfädchen

Hikers want narrow paths, natural routes (over forest floor, grass paths or along streams) and rocky ascents that lead to spectacular views. It is of course essential that such paths are walked with particular care.

What you should consider on your hike:

  • Wear weather-appropriate, functional clothing that protects you from cold and wetness or heat and sun.
  • Plan your hike with appropriate breaks and use your strength sparingly.
  • Take enough fluids with you. There are not always catering options available.
  • Please wear suitable hiking shoes that give you sufficient grip even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.
  • If you believe certain path sections are not passable for you, you should bypass or turn back. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural trails may become muddy and slippery.
  • Pay special attention in autumn because fallen leaves on the ground can cover unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path.
  • You must expect path impairments of this kind if you undertake a hike.
  • Before your hike, check online at https://www.traumpfade.info/traumpfaedchen/wege-status/ whether the Traumpfädchen you plan to hike is possibly closed, if detours exist, or if construction measures like timber harvesting or other disturbances are planned.
  • Recommended hiking months: April to October.
Equipment

The Traumpfädchen are not suitable for strollers or rollators.

You can find path closures at: https://www.traumpfade.info/traumpfaedchen/wege-status/

Tip

***Attention: The parking lot cannot be accessed - detour to the entrance of the hiking trail***

As a result, access to the parking lot at Linkemühle (Bachstraße 22) is no longer possible.

A detour/access to the hiking trail can be made via a path between house numbers Bachstraße 16 & 18.

The total construction time is about 4 months.
