General information
Directions
Start: From your accommodation, cycle to Trier main station and take the RegioRadler bus from there to Echternacherbrück, stop Zollamt.
After the Sauerbrücke bridge, keep right, pass the RegioRadler bus stop and then turn right again into Mindener Straße. Follow this road and pass the campsite and the outdoor pool. You will soon reach a large bridge over the River Sûre. Cross under this bridge and continue straight ahead (there is a small industrial estate on the left) until you reach the B 418. At the B 418, keep right and cycle downstream on the Sauertal cycle path alongside the main road. Shortly before Minden, cross the main road and cycle into Minden. After passing the church in Minden, you will come to a main road. Cross this and continue straight on over the bridge. Then keep right, cross under the B 418 and continue along the Sauertal cycle path. You pass the villages of Edingen and Godendorf and finally cycle through the 336 m long illuminated Ralingen Tunnel. After the Ralingen tunnel, cycle briefly uphill to the road. Follow the road to the right into Ralingen. Follow the cycle path signs through the village and continue downstream to Ralingermühle. After you have passed the village of Ralingermühle, the cycle path takes a sharp left turn and leads you back to the B 418. At the B 418, keep right and follow the Sauertal cycle path past Wintersdorf to Metzdorf. Shortly before Metzdorf, approx. 200 meters of the cycle path are "raised" to protect the valuable wetland.
After cycling through the grounds of the campsite, you will reach Metzdorf.
Here you have the option of crossing over an impressive wooden bridge to Moersdorf on the Luxembourg side and continuing downstream on the right bank of the river. On the Luxembourg side, follow the markings "Piste Cyclable 3" or "PC 03". After approx. 5 kilometers, cross the next bridge back over to the German side. After crossing the bridge, you will find yourself in the village of Langsur. After the bridge, keep diagonally to the right and cycle through Langsur.
Alternatively, you can continue on the left side of the river on the Sauertal cycle path to Langsur.
After you have passed Langsur, you come back to the B 418, which you now cycle parallel to until you reach Wasserbilligerbrück. The Sauertal cycle path ends here. At the tourist information office, cross the road carefully and cycle along the main road out of Wasserbilligerbrück. After Wasserbilligerbrück, the path bends to the right and leads you down to the Moselle. At the Moselle, keep left and continue along the Moselle cycle path past the village of Igel with the famous Igeler Säule.
- Tip: visit the Igel Column (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
At Konz, you first cross under the joint cycle, pedestrian and railroad bridge and then turn left over this bridge over the Moselle. On the other side, keep left again and cycle back to Trier on the right-hand side of the river on the Moselle cycle path.
- Tip: Sightseeing in Konz
