For all wine lovers and those who want to become one, the community of Enkirch has set up this educational trail in the well-known vineyard "Steffensberg."
The Steffensberg site is a 70-hectare, pure south-facing slope, mainly planted with "Riesling" vines. Due to the angle of solar radiation, ground warming is significantly more favorable than in the plain. The steepest slope is 70%.
The educational trail offers approximately 3.5 km of various information boards with interesting insights about the cultivation and growth of the grapevine, as well as the annual work processes of the winemaker in the vineyards.
Additionally, the circular hiking trail offers magnificent views of the town, the Moselle valley, and the charming side valleys.
The starting point is the Mardel bridge. From here, proceed uphill on the street "Im Bungert." From this point, follow the marking with the grape cluster on the path. At the pavilion, take a short break from the steep ascent (on the front side of the pavilion there are two old cult stones), then continue straight to the wine barrel (rest area). Downhill past the sundial, back to the starting point.
General information
Directions
Starting from the Tourist Information, go past the intersection by the pizzeria into the street "Im Bungert." Then straight ahead to the vineyards, from here the viticulture educational trail begins. Now turn left. At the end of the street, turn right uphill past the "Druckkelter." After the second "Druckkelter," continue to the right. At the pavilion, go straight ahead to a large wooden barrel. At this barrel, turn right down the path, keep going straight past the sundial to the gravel path.
