General information
Directions
The tour begins at the “Zeller Schwarze Katz” fountain and crosses the pedestrian bridge to Kaimt. From there, you’ll cycle along the banks of the Moselle toward Briedel. After about 4 km, you’ll pass the ferry that goes to Briedel. Below Marienburg, you’ll continue cycling with a view of the wine-growing village of Pünderich. The route follows the Moselle all the way to Reil. The path climbs steeply up into the vineyards and through a small wooded area to the Prinzenkopfturm. From there, follow the descent through the forest toward Alf. Once you reach the banks of the Moselle, follow the river through St. Aldegund to the bridge in Neef. Here, cross the Moselle and cycle through the village of Neef. From there, take the gravel bike path above the railroad tracks to Bullay. From Bullay, cycle back along the banks of the Moselle to the starting point in Zell (Mosel).
Safety Guidelines
Your safety is our top priority. By preparing well and following the safety guidelines below, you’ll create the best conditions for a safe bike ride.
Stay Hydrated
Bring plenty of drinking water and drink regularly. Especially on bike tours along the Moselle, the heat can be intense in the summer.
Check your bike
Before your ride, check the brakes, tires, lights, and tire pressure. A bike in perfect working order increases your safety.
Check the weather
Check the current weather forecast before starting your bike tour. In case of thunderstorms, heavy rain, or strong winds, you should postpone the tour or end it early.
Stay on the marked trails
Use the signposted bike paths and approved routes. This helps protect nature and avoids unnecessary risks.
Follow traffic rules
Follow traffic laws and ride with foresight. On shared pedestrian and bike paths, in particular, always expect pedestrians.
Adjust your speed
Adjust your speed to the trail conditions. Extra caution is required, especially on curves, on gravel paths, and in wet conditions.
Forest Fire Risk
Pay special attention to the current risk of wildfires, especially during the summer months. Avoid open fires and smoking in the forest and in areas with dry vegetation.
Emergency Call
In an emergency, you can reach emergency services throughout Europe by dialing 112. Provide your location as precisely as possible and, if possible, use your cell phone’s location feature.
Equipment
Wear a helmet
Wear a well-fitting bicycle helmet throughout the entire ride. It can significantly reduce the risk of serious head injuries in the event of a fall.
Visibility
Wear clothing that is as bright or reflective as possible, and use working lights when visibility is poor.
Headwear and Sun Protection
In warm weather, wear a suitable head covering or a light scarf under your helmet. Also, apply plenty of sunscreen with an appropriate SPF and protect yourself from intense sunlight, especially on the open bike paths along the Moselle and in the vineyards.
Tip
Enjoy the view from the Prinzenkopf Tower of the "Zeller Hamm" river bend.
