This hike leads from the wine village of Lehmen over the challenging path in the "Lehmen Würzlay", with beautiful views of the Moselle Valley, to the Ausoniusstein viewpoint, into a nature reserve and over an old slate mine in the Flachsbachtal to Löf. Varied landscapes, beautiful views, and a unique fauna and flora make this route a very special experience.
Starting at the station in Lehmen, go right and after a few meters you will meet the signpost “Würzlaysteig”, which you follow slightly uphill through a residential area to a dead end. At the last house on the left, follow a meadow path straight ahead that leads to the entrance to the Würzlaysteig. On narrow paths, the trail winds through the “Lehmen Würzlay” with continuous ups and downs, sometimes on sunny, sometimes on shady sections through the forest, with magnificent views of the Moselle Valley. Beautiful rest spots with sensory benches invite you to linger again and again along the way. Shortly before the Ausoniusstein, you have to overcome a short, steep climb once more. At the rest area “Ausoniusstein”, an information board points to an impressive slate rock, which rises above the former slate mine and now bears the name Ausoniusstein. It is said to commemorate the Gallo-Roman statesman, poet, and tutor of princes, who in 371 described the Moselle region on a military connection from Bingen to Trier. From here you walk past on a wide meadow path and reach the “Ausonius shelter” after a few minutes, with beautiful views of the Moselle Valley. At the end of the rest area, follow the signpost “Slate Mine” along a narrow, steep path downhill through a stream valley to a clearing with an information board and further through the forest. After a few minutes, the path rises slightly uphill and you reach a fork. From here, follow the sign “Slate Mine” steeply down and finally down steep stairs to a house. At the house, continue down to the left to a railway tunnel and turn right on a path that leads along the railway tracks to the wine village of Kattenes. Continue hiking to the first houses and follow the signposts Löf and Prinzenhöhe to the right and reach the wine village of Löf after 5 kilometers. You can take the regional train back to your starting point in Lehmen.

Directions
From the north, the route runs along a narrow path above steepest vineyard slopes, always with a view of the Moselle. Further south, forest sections and open areas alternate constantly and repeatedly offer breathtaking views of the river landscape.
Safety Guidelines
Alternative routes over two climbing sections are also possible. Surefootedness and practice are absolutely required for this.

- Backpack with provisions: Enough to drink and possibly food, as not everywhere are there places to eat or shop, or they may be closed.
