Hotel Alte Bürgermeisterei
Short facts
- Ediger Eller
- hotel
The municipality of Ediger was built around 1840. It is the birthplace of the first president of the Weimar National Assembly, Dr. Eduard Heinrich Rudolph David (* June 11, 1863 in Ediger, † December 24, 1930 in Berlin).
His father Johann Heinrich David was a Prussian tax collector, born in Trier, and his mother Wilhelmine Elisabeth Werner was a farmer's daughter from Kastellaun in Hunsrück.
Dr. Eduard David's (SPD) efforts contributed to the decision in Weimar in 1919 to choose the traditional colors of the German flag - black-red-gold - as a symbol for a unified, just, and free Germany as the national flag. After the dark years under the swastika, the fathers of the Basic Law redefined on May 23, 1949 in Article 22: "The federal flag is black-red-gold."
At the beginning of the 20th century, the house was used and modified as a community center. Unfortunately, during the Nazi era, it was also made available to various organizations of the party. After the end of the Third Reich, it was again used as a community center and rehearsal space for the Ediger brass music club until 2001.
In 2001, the Feiden family acquired the historic building and converted it into the romantic hotel "Alte Bürgermeisterei" later that same year.
In 2015, Claudia Feiden sold the Alte Bürgermeisterei to the artist couple Bernice Christoph and Hermann Loos, who operate a gallery in Valwig, after the death of her husband.
In 2021, the Bonn real estate team is pleased to make a special offer to its business partners and all friends of the Moselle.
Starting from the 2024 season, Ms. Putu Taro Apriliani will be the new host in the historic "Alte Bürgermeisterei" from 1840 in Ediger-Eller.
As the building has historical significance as the birthplace of Dr. Eduard David, the first president of the Weimar National Assembly, we want to honor this claim: As a real estate company from Bonn, we have thematically designed the Alte Bürgermeisterei with images from the era of the Bonn Republic (1949-1990). Let yourself be surprised by the flair of this truly good, old peaceful time that is actually not so long ago.

Here’s how to access the hotel and your room:
You will receive two access codes online or printed out from us personally. It looks like this:
Please enter the first series of digits with the confirmation tick when using the front door and your room door for the first time.
After that, you will only need the second series of digits for the house and room. Please never forget the confirmation tick after entering the digits.
Note: You must enter the first series of digits regardless. For example, if you arrive in the afternoon and the front door is open, you can of course enter the house and go to your room. However, if you come later to the closed front door, you will need to enter the first series of digits in order to enter.
It is best to always have the two PIN numbers on your mobile phone. Please take a photo of the note if you did not receive the numbers online.
