Bahnhof Klotten

  • Klotten

On 2 May 1879, railway operations began on the Moselle line.

The reception building was a one-storey rubble stone building with half-timbered parts. "After the surveying work for the railway, the mayor at the time, together with the district president, rejected the route. They pleaded for the railway to be routed on the right downstream from Klotten. However, since the Moselle line was a strategic railway (Kanonenbahn), the rejection was unsuccessful."

At the time the line was opened, Clotten (old name) had about 1,500 inhabitants. Wine and other agricultural products were mainly produced here.
