Burg Arras

  • Alf

After a turbulent history, the former imperial castle complex is now privately owned and houses the only CASTLE HOTEL on the Moselle, a RESTAURANT, and a MUSEUM.

The castle, built on a mountain peak in the early Middle Ages, was jointly owned by the Emperor and the Archbishop of Trier. With its destruction by the French during the War of the Austrian Succession, the castle of Arras shared the fate of all the Rhenish-Moselle fortifications and was destroyed. The structure, rebuilt more than 100 years ago as a noble residence, is now a modern, individually furnished hotel with a personal atmosphere—shielded from street noise.

A visit to the castle museum featuring selected local cultural treasures, the still original castle dungeon, and a tower visit provides an extraordinary experience. The castle garden offers a beautiful view of the surrounding valleys.

Events: Castle Festival, New Year's Eve at the Castle. Facilities for celebrations, weddings, etc. Castle hotel, castle restaurant.
