Laurentiuskapelle Trittenheim

  • Trittenheim

The chapel dedicated to the wine saint Laurentius was first mentioned in a document in 1569. In the midst of the vineyards slopes as a church for the surrounding villages and Trittenheim, then still written Tritthamme. At that time, people still lived on the hill near the chapel. Only much later a new settlement was built in the valley.

Every year, on the 2nd weekend in August, the Laurentius Chapel is the destination of a solemn procession. During the service, the patron saint of vines is commemorated and God's blessing is asked for a "prosperous harvest and protection from bad weather and plague".

The chapel was restored in an exemplary manner from 1997 to 1999 by the Förderverein e.V. St. Laurentiuskapelle Trittenheim and today invites hikers and lovers of our wine landscape to linger in contemplation.
