Historic buildings and world-famous vineyards

The stage starts at the market square in Zell (Mosel), in the middle of the famous "Zeller Schwarze Katz" vineyard. The wine and local history museum of the town of Zell (Mosel) is well worth a visit.

From Zell, the journey continues up the Moselle towards Traben-Trarbach. Numerous romantic wine villages invite you to stop and take a break. Along the wine village of Briedel and the "Briedeler Herzchen" vineyard, the cycle path continues directly along the Moselle to Pünderich. The historic centre of Pünderich, with its lovingly restored half-timbered houses, provides the perfect backdrop for a rest. The towns of Burg and Enkirch follow, with their Heimat-Stuben Museum (https://www.enkirch.de/tourismus-und-kultur/geschichte/heimatstuben/) and stylishly restored half-timbered buildings.

The Jugenstil town of Traben-Trarbach has a lot to offer. The ruins of Grevenburg Castle tower high above the town, and numerous architectural masterpieces of the Art Nouveau and Belle Epoque periods can be marvelled at. The museum row offers cultural and historical experiences (including the Middle Moselle Museum and the Buddha Museum), and on a guided tour through the mystical semi-darkness of Traben-Trarbach's underworld, participants embark on an exciting journey of discovery.

On the onward journey towards Bernkastel-Kues, many small typical Moselle villages invite you to rest and linger. Before entering Zeltingen-Rachtig, the sundial built in 1620, which gives its name to the "Zeltinger Sonnenuhr" vineyard, is an impressive sight in the midst of the vineyards. A detour through the centre of the village with its old manor houses and half-timbered houses is worthwhile. Opposite Rachtig is the former Cistercian monastery of Machern, which today houses a museum, a wine cabinet and a monastery brewery.

The destination of this stage is the medieval town of Bernkastel-Kues with its romantic alleys and impressive half-timbered houses and Landshut Castle looming overhead.
