Organic winery "Die Traubenhüter", that's Thomas and Magdalena Ibald from the small wine-growing village of Hatzenport on the terraced Mosel.
Since 2019 we are fully certified, controlled organic winery! ÖKO-Kontrollnummer: DE-RP-003-64048-AB For three decades now we have been farming our vineyards on a part-time basis and have sold our harvest to colleagues. Rooted in steep slope viticulture since childhood, we decided to bottle our Riesling grapes ourselves now that the children are as good as out of the house. Our dreams of Riesling, of terroir, of the cultivated landscape, of teamwork with nature and of having fun with life and wine are now coming true. In search of a name that would focus all these visions as if in a burning glass, we came across Grape Keeper. A name from Middle High German that is over 700 years old and originally stood for the guardian and defender against bird predators and grape thieves. We associate the grape guardian with the careful, even cautious handling of this fascinating plant vine, which in its fruit has offered so much material for poets and thinkers, philosophers and priests, poor and rich, introverts and extroverts, euphorics and melancholics for thousands of years. Book guided walks: The duration of the hike can be varied individually from 2.5 - 4 hours. The ideal group size is between 8 and 15 people. The price per participant is 24,-€ incl. 4 wine tastings.
