Winery Lönartz-Thielmann Our winery is situated on the so-called Terassenmosel, very close to the famous wine town of Cochem. As a family business, we cultivate 8.5 ha of vineyards. 40% of these vineyards are steep slopes.
Contrary to the general trend, we have even expanded our steep slope areas in recent years, including the vineyard of our young vintner Florian. Some of these areas lay fallow for 30 years and have now been replanted. 80% of our steep slopes are planted with Riesling and 20% with Pinot Noir, the other grape varieties grow more on the plains, as these require deeper soils that we do not find on our steep slopes.
