Our vineyards are located in the sites of Mehringer Zellerberg, Mehringer Blattenberg, Mehringer Goldkupp, Rioler Römerberg, and Longuicher Hirchlay. These vineyard sites are defined by their soil type and microclimate. The microclimate in the vineyard sites is largely influenced by the orientation towards the sun. The different soils give the wine its flavor profile. The microclimate mainly controls the yield and must weight of the grapevines. A special feature of the Moselle are the steep and very steep slopes, with their slate soils. The Riesling is our main grape variety, but Rivaner, Spätburgunder, Dornfelder, and Weißburgunder also play an important role.

Philosophy

In the minds and hearts of our winemaker family, tradition and progress are inseparably connected. They shape the philosophy of our estate and the high quality of our wines: the result of the experience of all winemaking generations, intensive work in the vineyard, and the use of the most modern cellar technology. The best of yesterday for the perfect tomorrow.

Proven knowledge from generations, improved cultivation methods, and constant refinements in aging ensure a continuous increase in the quality of our wines; this is our top priority and guiding principle. With this, we strive to meet the high expectations of our customers every year and with every vintage.

Our goal in wine production is to create fine, delicate, fruit-driven wines that express the terroir of the slate. This means: minimal yields from many vines, small berries, a late selective harvest by hand, and clean, fast, and gentle processing of the harvested grapes.

A vision, a lot of passion, no compromises, and top wines—these are the cornerstones of our winery philosophy. We want to bring a smile to people's faces with our wines
