The winery currently encompasses about 60 hectares of vineyard area. A large part of it lies in mineral-rich slate steep slopes, which are among the best in the world. The grapes find ideal growth conditions on the warm and dry slopes facing south. Here, unique Riesling wines thrive, convincing with their fine fruity and mineral character. With 90% of the vineyard area, Riesling is the most important grape variety of the winery. Other grape varieties include Pinot Blanc and Rivaner. The prime locations of the winery include "Merler Adler," "Merler Stephansberg," "Merler Fettgarten," and "Merler Königslay-Terrassen."
"We must carry the Moselle slate, which gives our wine its character and strength, in our hands" is just one of many principles that the KALLFELZ team has taken to heart.
The reward for their joint efforts is numerous national and international awards at honest, independent, and verifiable competitions.

The motto of the winery is "From the idealist for the individualist." Behind this lies the conviction that good wine can only be created with hard work and honest craftsmanship. The slate steep slopes provide a unique foundation for distinctive, characterful wines. The preservation of old Riesling vines and new plantings in the challenging but unique slate steep slopes form the basis for great, mineral-driven wines.
Otherwise, in Zell-Merl, they rely on time – a lot of time. The young wine also needs this time to become truly great enjoyment.
