The winery of Alois and Maria Schneiders in Pommern can look back on a tradition of almost one hundred years. Their vineyards, planted with Riesling and Pinot Noir vines, are located in the steep slate slopes and terraced steep slopes of Pomerania and Cochem - Cond. In Ernst, Schneiders cultivate one of the oldest cultivated grape varieties in Europe, the Elbling. The Romans planted this vine in Gaul on the Rhine and Moselle.
For quality reasons, the grapes are harvested by hand. After a gentle pressing, the must ferments in wooden barrels. Master winemaker Alois Schneiders is a professional in the development of dry and fully fermented wines and a self-confessed lover of dry Rieslings. The mineral-tasting Rieslings he vinifies, paired with fine slate aromas, are very long-lasting. His wife Maria prefers wines with a subtle sweetness.
In spring and autumn, Maria and Alois Schneiders open the Strausswirtschaft in the courtyard and in the wine tavern and spoil their guests with culinary delicacies from the vintner's kitchen.
