Weingut Bastgen is a family-run organic winery in the heart of the Middle Mosel. Mona Bastgen and Armin Vogel, together with their son Paul, craft around 30,000 bottles from 5 hectares of steep Mosel vineyards, rooted in a family wine tradition dating back to the 1850s.
Our parcels lie around Kesten and Bernkastel-Cues in classic slate slopes and renowned Riesling territory. Key sites include Paulinsberg and Paulinshofberg in Kesten as well as Cueser Weisenstein, each giving a distinct expression of Mosel slate: saltiness, spice, depth and focused elegance.
We have been farming organically in steep slopes since the 1990s and are certified organic since 2010. In the vineyard we encourage biodiversity with cover crops and mostly manual work; in the cellar we follow a minimal-intervention approach, with no chaptalisation and no technical shortcuts. We let time and nature do the work and keep sulfur additions to a minimum.
Visits and tastings take place in our bright tasting room with views over the Mosel valley. Every tasting is hosted by the owners and tailored to your interest, from an easy introduction to a deeper dive into vineyards, vintages and winemaking. Please contact us in advance by phone or email to arrange your appointment. Tastings are available in German and English.
