The Carlo Schmitt winery is now in the 3rd generation and recommended by Eichelmann, Feinschmecker and Vinum Magazin. The 21-year-old Carlo Schmitt is responsible for the vineyard and the development of the wines. For the production of high quality wines, we rely on steep vineyards with old vines from the best locations. Wine sales and wine tastings with or without accompanying meals from Monday to Saturday & by appointment.

We - the Heinz Schmitt-Erben winery team - have already faced major challenges in the past. Despite difficult conditions, I was able to realize my dream: to become a winemaker and produce my own wine. I successfully mastered the first milestones: an apprenticeship at a renowned winery in Leiwen, further training in the USA (Oregon and California) and a journeyman's year at Chateau Pauqué Abi Duhr in Grevenmacher / Luxembourg. Since autumn 2019 I am completing an apprenticeship as a viticulture technician in Weinsberg. We got off to a promising start with the 2017 vintage. The experiences in the vineyard and in the cellar already paid off in the following year - the 2018er received several awards or praise, including. in the specialist journals Feinschmecker, Eichelmann and in Vinum Magazin. The highlight so far was the nomination as one of 25 young talented vintners with potential in Germany (Vinum Magazin March 2020 issue). Furthermore, from September 2020 we can also call ourselves Riesling Champion, because our “Laurentiuslay semi-dry” won first place in the “Riesling Champion” competition (Vinum Magazin September 2020 issue) in the semi-dry / semi-dry category. These successes have spurred me on to go further and try new things. With the 2019 vintage, I will be the third generation to continue our family winery with my own label. The owl, which can often be seen in our vineyards and stands for wisdom, insight and intuition, becomes our business card and a figurehead on the labels.
