17th century. The history of the winegrowing families Alois Clüsserath and Clemens Eifel begins in the chronicle of Trittenheim, a wine village on the Moselle. This is how the winery got its present name. Documents from the year 1745 prove this. After the Second World War, the estate is continued by the parents Maria née Clüsserath and Viktor Eifel. 1985 Gerhard Manfred Eifel takes over the traditional estate into the 7th generation. Today the traditional winery is led into the new decade by the Lergenmüller family. On the basis of our outstanding vineyard locations, we, the Lergenmüller family, stand for a respectful treatment of flora and fauna in the vineyard. After selective harvesting, the quality that comes out of the vineyard is merely preserved and gently shaped. We give our wines time to mature.

If you look at the local history, the history of the wine-growing families Alois Clüsserath and Clemens Eifel begins as early as 1745. Mentioned in a document, this is how the winery got its name, which is still valid today, Clüsserath-Eifel. It remained in family ownership for seven generations until Gerhard Eifel handed over the small, exclusive winery to the Lergenmüller family in 2019 for reasons of age and preservation. Stefan and Dr. Karin Lergenmüller have received the jewel and have fulfilled their dream of eternal viticulture. 4.5 hectares of the finest, ancient, some over 100 years old vineyards, with a not inconsiderable proportion of real-root vines. By working extremely carefully in the vineyard and cellar, unique, very limited one-offs could be created for those interested in wine, the wine enthusiasts. Ancient, "The ancient vines bring such a complex, multi-layered, yet elegant, even filigree and downright overwhelming aroma, which we only want to be able to preserve in a stainless steel tank. The whole thing paired with a dreamlike acid structure. ”No more than 30-35hl are harvested on the ha. Of course, with strict observance and conservation of natural resources.

Wines that are already extremely inspiring and are sure to bring joy for many years to come. The ideal place to discover our products and learn more about the way we work is to visit the vineyard villa, which was built in 1905 and has now been carefully renovated. Here 9 stylishly furnished suites await your visit, be it for a family celebration, for conference and event purposes, for wine seminars, to slow down. A regionally-oriented cuisine tailored to the wines will make you arrive here. Until your next visit to Trittenheim, we would of course be very happy to receive your order. There are around 45,000 vines, most of which are unrooted, in the fillets of the best steep and steepest slopes in Trittenheim, Neumagens, Klüsserath and Leiwens since time immemorial. According to the maxim of "ETERNAL WINE-GROWING", we lovingly wrestle these spectacular vineyards with vines up to 120 years old with those elixirs that are proud representatives of the finest Moselle Rieslings worldwide. These old vines - rooted meters deep in the slate rock, give us low yields of particularly tasty grapes every year. Following our goal of preserving these vineyards for future generations (“forever”), we are motivated anew every day to preserve these unique cultural treasures. Work has already been done in the past to carefully convert the vineyards to organic. In the vast majority of cases, these are steep slopes, i.e. purely handcrafted areas. We are proud and feel obliged to contribute a small part to the very complex maintenance and preservation of traditional landscape and cultural areas. In particular, this is due to the fact that, thank God, these are not land-cleared areas, the cultivation of which is much more difficult, but due to the preservation of the bushes, dry stone walls and the natural landscape formation, a unique terroir character in wine brings forth. Furthermore, we would like to make our possible contribution to the protection of the site-specific flora and fauna and the associated landscape and nature conservation. In autumn we meticulously select perfectly healthy, hand-picked grapes that are vinified as must in the historic vaulted cellar of the winery villa without any additives and without any use of modern technology. Time and patience are our most important parameters in order to receive these special gifts from nature.
