The Maximinerhof winery is a small family-run business in Kenn on the Moselle, not far from Trier. The former estate of the St. Maximin Abbey, dated 1739, has been owned by the Schu family in the 5th generation. It was only through the Neapolitan secularization of the monasteries that the estate came into private ownership of the family ancestors. Today, the winery is managed by the young winemaker Bernd Schu. His credo is handwork and sustainability, which is reflected in the wonderful quality of the wines.

The Vineyards

The vineyards, covering a total of 4.5 hectares, are located between Trier and Piesport in different villages directly along the Moselle.

Mehring-Lörsch

In the vineyards of Mehring-Lörsch are our steepest plots. They are characterized by a rocky, fine, nearly perfect blue slate soil that is not too dry. From here come our very characterful, slate-driven wines. Most of them are dry or off-dry. However, truly noble late harvest and select wines full of extract with wonderful acidity also grow here.

Kenn

The Kenner vineyards, with their deep, red-stone and rocky slate soils, produce wines with a mild, highly elegant fruit. They are dry and off-dry, offering an incredibly complex slate-driven flavor.
