family winery in 3rd generation
History of the winery:
As with many family-run wineries on the Mosel today, our roots lie in a mixed agricultural business. Viticulture played only a secondary role. Arable farming and cattle breeding enabled the families to be almost self-sufficient. The beginnings date back to the 18th century.
In the middle of the last century, there was an increasing specialisation into a winery. The first wines were bottled and marketed under their own name.
The current name of the winery resulted from the marriage of our parents in 1965. This brought together the already existing wineries from Erden and Kinheim. The location became our mother Oliva's parents' house, which was gradually extended. A major project was the construction of the cellar in 1978, which created space and made it possible to expand the business.
In 1999, the winery was taken over by us brothers. From then on, the vineyard area was continuously expanded, so that we now cultivate about 5.5 hectares. This was accompanied by an increase in the number of grape varieties. However, we also added areas that stand for tradition and typicality of the Moselle region - such as the purchase of the vineyard in the top vineyard Wehlener Sonnenuhr in 1999, a steep slope where Riesling thrives wonderfully.
We are now the third generation to work at the Schneider-Faber winery - and the fourth is already waiting in the wings...
