Microwinery

Since 2004, Marco and Christina van Elkan have been operating as "quereinsteiger" (career changers) in viticulture. With their micro-winery, they pursue a consistent quality strategy. Low yields, meticulous foliage and vine protection work, as well as late harvesting, are among the cornerstones of the van Elkan's wine philosophy. Only ripe, acid-harmonious, and aromatic grapes are used for the Rieslings. In the cellar, however, "controlled idleness" is the order of the day. A slow and cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks, along with a long storage on the yeast deposit, gives the Rieslings fruit, structure, and depth. The interplay of unique terroir, quality efforts in the vineyard, and gentle processing in the cellar results in authentic Ruwer Rieslings: aromatic, delicately fruity, juicy - endowed with elegant acidity, typical Ruwer minerality, and a long finish. The result is Rieslings that attract attention. Within just a few years, the winery was included in the prestigious wine guides.
