Weingut Haxel is a small, young, dynamic winery in the heart of the town of Cochem on the Moselle, founded by Rolf and Erika Haxel.

Rolf Haxel is a graduate engineer in viticulture and cellar management, his wife Erika a winemaker. Both are united by their quality-oriented philosophy, and both come from traditional winegrowing families. After studying viticulture in Geisenheim, the Lahn-born winemaker decided to set up a winery in Cochem, his wife's hometown. In doing so, he concentrated entirely on the traditional grape variety Riesling. Today, many tourists and groups of visitors from home and abroad visit the winery with its "Rieslingstub'n". Whether you choose to drink a glass of wine in the romantically entwined vineyard or opt for a wine tasting surrounded by many historical tools and equipment, there is something for every visitor's heart. The winery stands out for its innovative ideas. It was one of the first on the Moselle to cultivate the red wine variety Pinot Noir on a larger scale, not least because Rolf Haxel originally comes from a red wine region. Meanwhile, the winery also convinces with its first-class sparkling wines. In addition to the classic Riesling sparkling wine in dry or brût, he has recently added a Dakapo red sparkling wine to his range. The winery does not have to worry about a successor either. The son Robert Haxel has added a young viticultural technician to the winery's know-how.
