Welcome to the romantic wine and holiday resort of Pölich with the Schömann-Kanzler family. The wine bar and guest house belonging to the winery are located in a slate house from the twenties that is well worth seeing. The wine and the hospitality of the friendly Pölich family business invite you to linger. The wines are vinified in the main house, the Kanzlerhof. The building was built in 1578 as the former vestry of Maximin Abbey in Trier. Private customers, restaurateurs and retailers appreciate the natural development of the Riesling wines, which are 80% dry and semi-dry on the bottle. A specialty of the estate is the production of sparkling wine in the traditional bottle fermentation process. In addition to the main Riesling variety, some Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Müller-Thurgau are also grown.

Winery

The wines are vinified in the main house, the Kanzlerhof. The building was built in 1578 as the former vestry of Maximin Abbey in Trier. In the basement, the traditional Fuder barrel expansion reigns next to modern stainless steel tanks, where under the motto: "As little as possible but as much as necessary" controlled fermentation and vinification takes place. Careful treatment of the grapes and the must are the prerequisite for this, whereby the basis for the good quality in the vineyard is laid. Here, master winemaker Alfred Schömann relies on natural cultivation and low yields.

On the steep slopes of the Pölicher Held and Mehringer Blattenberg vineyards cuts the old vines, some of which are not rooted, on a bog vine for extract-rich and aromatic grapes. The Kanzlerhof is now in the third generation of the "Bernkastler Ring", an association of leading wineries on the Moselle, Saar and Ruwer.
