The Oberemmel vineyards are world-renowned for their excellent wines and top products from the winemakers. The Alois Kirchen winery has been cultivating vines for generations and currently cultivates about 45,000 vines.
The Oberemmeler vineyards are world-renowned for their excellent wines and top-quality products from the winemakers. In this area, Devonian rocks of the Rhenish Slate Mountains dominate, providing the best conditions for the production of interesting and high-quality wines. Our vineyards in Oberemmel yield slender, elegant, and mineral wines thanks to the very skeletal slate weathering soils.
By the way: The vineyard soil was awarded "Soil of the Year" in 2014.
Of course, the climate also plays a decisive role: Over the past four decades, the temperature in the Saar region has risen by more than one degree Celsius on average. Climate change is positively affecting the quality of the wines produced in the Saar – especially the Riesling and Burgundy grape varieties reach their temperature-dependent ripeness optimum more completely.
