The Oberemmel vineyards are world-renowned for their excellent wines and top products from the winemakers. The Alois Kirchen winery has been cultivating vines for generations and currently cultivates about 45,000 vines.
The Oberemmel vineyards are world-renowned for their excellent wines and top-quality products from winemakers. In this area, Devonian rocks of the Rhenish Slate Mountains dominate, providing the best conditions for the production of interesting and high-quality wines. Our vineyards in Oberemmel produce slender, elegant, and mineral wines thanks to the very skeleton-rich slate weathering soils.
By the way: The vineyard soil was awarded "Soil of the Year" in 2014.
Of course, the climate also plays a crucial role: Over the past four decades, temperatures along the Saar have risen by more than one degree Celsius on average. Climate change thus has a positive impact on the quality of wines produced in the Saar – especially Riesling and Burgundy grape varieties reach their temperature-dependent ripeness optimum more completely.
