The Gessinger winery is located in idyllic Zeltingen-Rachtig on the Moselle. Riesling has been the livelihood of the Gessinger family for ten generations and the winery is family-owned. The first documented mention dates back to 1680, and our family has been growing grapes in Zeltingen on the Middle Moselle without interruption since at least that year. With the winemaker Alfred Gessinger, 40 years of experience in the vineyard and wine cellar flow into the production of our wines. He has passed this enthusiasm on to his daughter Sarah, who took over the winery in July 2013 and is continuing the tradition. Quality is no coincidence... Quality instead of quantity is our credo! For 35 years now, we have refrained from working the soil in the vineyard. Instead, we allow the soil and vines to flourish as a holistic ecosystem that draws its nutrients from the decomposition of organic material and the living organisms that build it up, and in keeping with the philosophy of the winery, the grapes are harvested exclusively by hand in order to achieve the best possible selection of grapes. The spontaneous fermentation of the wines with the vineyard's own yeasts is followed by a long period of fine lees storage in order to produce aromatic and long-lasting wines.
