Winery + Guest House "Stiftshof

I, Heiko Schütz, took over the business from my parents in 2003. I am now running it in the 6th generation together with my wife Karin and with the support of my parents. My training as a winemaker began in 1983 with an apprenticeship as a winemaker, which I completed in an experimental winery. This was followed by a school education as a state-certified economist for viticulture and cellar technology in Trier. After a few years of experience in my parents' winery and as an assistant in various wine-growing regions, I passed the examination for master winemaker in 1993.

In 2000 we were also able to complete our newly built flat house and welcome our first guests. With this we created a second "mainstay" and at the same time enlarged our winegrowing business with storage rooms and a wine tasting room.

The vineyard area could be more than doubled in the last years with the help of new machines, and also the wine quality could be further increased. By reducing the amount of harvest per area, as well as combining traditional winemaking and modern cellar technology, we are able to offer a rich selection of high-quality wines and sparkling wines.

Generally speaking, it can be said that thanks to the good training and efforts of numerous wine pioneers, Moselle wine has now achieved a high standing among wine connoisseurs at home and abroad.

Today we are often not "as good as others" but better.
