The farm with its land was originally a monastery of the St Irminen monastery in Trier. Its eventful history goes back to the time of Napoleon. The keystone of the barn, which was built in 1807, bears witness to the expansion and was preserved even after the remodelling in 1956. The business is now run by the sixth generation of the family. Peter Leo Hein successfully completed the master farmer's examination before his apprenticeship as a winemaker and subsequent master winemaker.
At the beginning of the last century, viticulture was expanded through the purchase of vineyards and new plantings. Today, over 8 hectares of vineyard area are nurtured and maintained.
The largest share is taken by Elbling – by the way, the oldest grape variety in Germany. The Weißburgunder and Grauburgunder now make up about a quarter of the vineyard area. The shell limestone soils are particularly suitable for producing very fruity Elbling wines and the full-bodied Burgunders.
The vineyards are located in the municipalities of Köllig, Nittel, and Rehlingen. The individual sites Rochusfels, Blümchen, and Leiterchen belong to the large area "Nitteler Gipfel." In addition to the lovingly renovated rooms of the distillery, an innovative distillation facility has been invested in. The tasting room offers space for 20 people, and in a pleasant atmosphere, you will get to know fruit brandies, liqueurs & wines. The perfect place to celebrate birthdays or other events in a classy setting. Experience the cozy atmosphere in the attractive tasting room with a fine drop. You are also welcome to participate in wine and fruit brandy tastings.
Comfortable holiday apartment for 2-4 people invites you to feel at home. Next to the house, you will find a playground for your children. A playground is reachable within a few minutes on foot.
