The family has been growing wine in the region since 1773. Today, they attach great importance to environmentally friendly and sustainable winegrowing.
The Reef family was first mentioned in the autumn and land register of the Counts of Manderscheid-Blankenheim in 1773.
For several generations, the family has continued its winemaking tradition. Most recently by master vintner Bernhard Reef and his son Matthias, following the motto: Wine grows in the vineyard.
The winery places great value on environmentally friendly and sustainable viticulture.
This means that wine production takes place in a particularly gentle, careful, and natural manner, as winemaking must occur in harmony with nature. Protecting our ecosystem is especially important. Therefore, we only fertilize our vineyards when necessary and focus on a diverse vegetation cover in our vineyards.
Another success factor for our wines is the use of a lot of manual labor, a strict limitation on quantities, and a selective harvest of healthy, ripe grapes.
