Winery Sauerweins

Along nearly 20 km of the Moselle, from Nennig to Rehlingen, we cultivate white and red grape varieties, including more than 20% of Elbling, the oldest German grape. True to our motto "Pure Variety," we now grow 20 different grape varieties (Auxerrois, Cabernet Cortis, Chardonnay, Dornfelder, Dunkelfelder, Elbling, Gewürztraminer, Grauburgunder, Kerner, Ortega, Regent, Riesling, Rivaner, Roter Riesling, Sankt Laurent, Schwarzriesling, Solaris, Spätburgunder, Syrah, and Weißburgunder).

The diversity of grape varieties reflects the diversity of our region. Our soils in Palzem, near the Moselle, consist of shell limestone, which are extensions of the Paris Basin. They warm up quickly, are permeable, and are particularly suitable for Elbling and the Pinot varieties. One-third of our vineyards are steep slopes - which means a lot of manual labor: from pruning the vines in winter to canopy management, leaf removal, and grape halving in summer, all the way to hand harvesting in autumn. Our white wines are fermented in stainless steel or wooden barrels. The red wines age for 1-2 years in small barrels after the mash fermentation.

During our wine tastings, we tailor the experience to your taste. Therefore, we look forward to small, personal groups of 2 to a maximum of 12 people. We offer you our diverse wines for tasting in varying amounts.
