Quality not quantity
The origins of the Historic Mustard Mill in Cochem date back to the 18th century. This makes it one of the oldest mustard mills in Europe. The mill was initially restored and put back into operation in Belgium in 1931. 1993 then saw its decommissioning in Holland. By chance, the Dehren family had the opportunity to acquire this piece of technical heritage.
“When we discovered them, the mills were in very bad condition. It was only through a lot of time and effort that we managed to lovingly restore the first mustard mill from scratch and give it a general technical overhaul,” recalls Danielle Dehren.
The Historic Mustard Mill in Cochem has been producing the finest, cold-ground gourmet mustard with the aid of one of Europe’s oldest mustard mills since 2001. In 2009, following a very labour-intensive restoration, a second Historic Mustard Mill dating back to 1810 was commissioned in Cologne, opposite the Chocolate Museum on the Holzmarkt.
